December can feel like a whirlwind of work, parties, feasting, present-buying and fun – but consider a day off as a truly needed gift to yourself. Take one day to sleep in, indulge in your favourite brunch, enjoy the glow of the Christmas tree lights and take some time for yourself. Here’s a few things we suggest you add to your day off to make it pamper-centric:
SOAK & SHOWER
Today’s the day to soak your cares away. Sink into a warm (but not too hot!) bath. Light some candles, pour in some bath oil – mmm, Aromatherapy Associates – and put on a podcast. I recommend you either catch up with Serial – the last episode airs next week! – or listen to grumpy but warm-hearted American comedian Marc Maron delve deep into a famous (or semi-famous) star’s life on WTF with Marc Maron. The RuPaul episode is A-MAZING.
MMM… MULTI-TASK
While you’re oh-so-relaxed and the podcast is playing, put on a face mask and a pre-shampoo hair mask… then, when you’re done and the bath water’s running away, have a quick shower. Wash out the mask, defuzz if you like, and then hop out and slather yourself in your favourite scented body lotion. Now’s the time for your comfiest jumper and / or PJs. No one to see, nowhere to be…
AT-HOME MANI/PEDI
Okay, twinkletoes – why not DIY a festive mani and pedi using the divine Models Own polish from the December Birchbox? Moisturise your hands and feet, push those cuticles back, shape your nails and add polish. If you make any mistakes, just use this handy corrector pen for totally tidy (and Instagrammable) results!
FESTIVE MOVIE MARATHON
Once you’ve finished focusing on your nails, pop in a festive movie like The Holiday, It’s A Wonderful Life, Elf, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Home Alone (1 & 2!), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jingle All The Way etc… – or marathon a few of them! – and let your hair air dry.
